A Rocking Journey: Motion Capture, Critique, and Final Showcase

Motion Capture Studio Experience:

I had the opportunity to bring my final artifact to the motion capture studio at my university and it was a truly eye-opening experience. The motion capture technology allowed me to observe the artifact in ways I hadn’t imagined and capturing movements that added a new layer of meaning to the object.

We were watching the performers Victoria and Farman it was so beautiful. I had only thought of the artifact in terms of simple handling but their unique dance with the object completely changed my view. Her movement seemed to give the artifact a life of its own and transforming it into something beyond its physical form.

I also saw in the room a holographic display which seemed unique and interesting to me.

On 15th November 2024,

We had a fun class about our projects. Our teachers did a fun activity. They picked our1:1 drawings and had someone else explain it, this helped us to communicate and learn about everyone's ideas. It was interesting to see how everyone thought differently about the same things.

This was helpful to compare our work and see where we could improve.

After that we were divided into groups with other students and talked about our Artifacts. We were tasked  to figure out how our Artifacts could fit together and make a better space in the Fratton Community Centre and then we also looked at the words what we choose and used to describe our artifacts and found ways to connect them.
This helped us see how our ideas were similar and how we could work together to develop the space.

On 4th December 2024,

We had an exciting photography session to showcase our Artifacts. Our team went to the photo studio to capture the perfect shot of our creations. We took different angles and lighting to highlight the unique features of each piece.

One of the highlight and my favorite was a photo of me sitting on my artifact, demonstrating its functionality and how it used.

We took professional shots with a high-quality camera and a white background ensuring that our work was presented in the best possible light.

And here is the Final output of my rocking chair .

  1. You have some good blog posts. You are evidencing the work and thinking of others (you could do more of this). But mostly I'd like to see the next iteration of your design project. As my comments on the previous blog use what you have learnt from making the artefact to inform the design of a playground at the site. You might want to extend this to a play area in the front of the entrance. Be careful not to default to what you know and hold back on functionality for the moment.
